2015 IMPACT U – Environmental Science & Biotechnology Camp
Join Asbury professors for five days of hands-on learning, using math modeling and science to make an impact solving issues like disease and hunger that are often encountered on world mission fields!
Camp Dates:
Monday – Friday June 15 – 19th, 2015 Camps
Cost:
The camp is $360 per person, and includes food, lodging, and all expenses.
What You Can Expect:
- Conduct DNA fingerprinting on your own DNA
- Collect and identify many aquatic invertebrates; take home your own collection
- Examine genetically modified fish using molecular techniques to observe the foreign gene
- Identify and collect many reptiles and amphibians while studying basic herpetology
- Go Electrofishing and explore many of the 272 species of fish living in Kentucky
- Learn about water chemistry and how human activity affects water quality parameters and aquatic organisms
- Use environmental DNA detection and identification of captured organisms based on differences in their genomic DNA sequences
